SAFETY
The prevention of accidents is an objective affecting all levels of our company and its operations. It is, therefore, a basic requirement that each of our supervisors make the safety of all employees an integral part of his/her regular management function. It is equally the duty of each of our employees to accept and follow established safety regulations and procedures.
El Grande Industries, Inc. strives to maintain a Health & Safety Program conforming to the best practices of our field. To be successful, such a program must embody proper attitudes towards injury and illness prevention on the part of supervisors and employees. It requires the cooperation in all safety and health matters, not only of the employer and employee, but between the employee and all co-workers. Only through such a cooperative effort can a safety program in the best interest of all be established and preserved. Our goal is zero accidents and injuries.
Employees are expected to assist management in accident prevention activities. Unsafe conditions are reported immediately. Fellow employees that need help will be assisted. Everyone is responsible for the housekeeping duties that pertain to their jobs.
To the greatest degree possible, management will provide all mechanical and physical protection required for personal safety and health, but our employees must bear responsibility for working safely. A little common sense and caution can prevent most accidents from occurring:

SAFETY COMMITTEE
The Safety Committee works together with East Coast Risk Management to manage every aspect of the company’s safety policies and procedures. The primary objective of the committee is to provide support to enhance the Company’s Safety Program. In addition to this primary mission, the Safety Committee encourages employees to participate in the safety process for betterment of all concerned.
HEALTH & SAFETY PROGRAMS
In addition to East Coast Risk Management performing on-site job inspections, our supervisors are required to perform inspections to assist in identifying unsafe acts and conditions before an accident takes place. On a everyday basis Supervisors complete on-site inspections and if a hazard is found, supervisors are required to notify the Job Superintendent/Job Inspector and correct it immediately.
WEEKLY "TOOL BOX TALKS" SAFETY MEETINGS
Safety Meetings are performed in the Field by our Foreman with their crews 5-10 minutes every Friday morning where they a given a topic that coincides with the type of work they are performing. We encourage the Foreman to hold additional meetings where applicable. We rely on our supervisory personnel to ensure implementation and enforcement of Safety meetings and their content. On a weekly basis Foremen complete Safety Tool Box Talks Forms and provide to the Safety Manager which are reviewed at the monthly Safety Committee meetings.
ADDIDENT/INCIDENT REPORTING
The main purpose of the accident investigation program is to determine the causes of accidents and develop corrective actions to eliminate or minimize future, similar events.
A formal accident investigation is conducted for every accident which results in an injury requiring medical treatment or first aid and all “near miss” incidents having potential for serious personal injury. When practical, accidents resulting in minor first-aid or property damage should also be investigated. All Accident Investigation Reports are subject to a review by the Safety Committee and where applicable, re-investigation.
